The Two-Child Program

2026–2027 School Year | Park Slope, Brooklyn

Beginning September 8, 2026, Backyard Explorers will offer a two-child, full-time early childhood program running Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 2:00pm through June 18, 2027.

This is not a scaled-down classroom. It is an intentionally small learning environment designed for depth, steadiness, and real relationship.

With only two children, the days unfold differently. We can stay with an idea longer. We can return to a project the next day. We can follow a question all the way through instead of moving on because the clock says so. There is space for focus, space for imagination, and space for emotional growth.

What the Days Include

• Outdoor exploration woven into the rhythm of the week
• Open-ended sensory play and long-form projects
• Building, gardening, cooking, science, art, and music integrated into daily life
• Early literacy and math woven into everyday activities
• Lunch and rest as part of a consistent, calm structure

This program is rooted in sensory exploration, nature connection, and deep relational care. Children are guided closely, but not hurried. Supported, but not over-directed. The pace is steady. The environment is thoughtful. The relationships are central.
